PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

Pursuant to section 10(g) of Chapter 122 of the Acts of 2020, the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security (EOPSS) hereby provides notice of the following three (3) virtual public hearings. The hearings will be held remotely by means of a Microsoft Teams, which can be accessed using the following information:

EOPSS will accept public comments on the 2020 Massachusetts Uniform Citation Data Analysis Report authored by Salem State University and Worcester State University. This report was required by section 10(d) of  Chapter 122 of the Acts of 2019, An Act Requiring the Hands-Free Use of Mobile Telephones While Driving, which prohibits operators of motor vehicles from using any electronic devices, including mobile telephones, unless the device is used in hands-free mode.  Data from Uniform Citations issued by  Massachusetts law enforcement agencies between  February 23, 2020 and  December 31, 2020 was analyzed by the research team.

While it is not required, you are encouraged to pre-register if you are interested in offering comments at one of the hearings. You may do so by contacting Michaela Martini at Michaela.Martini1@mass.gov, or by phone at 617-274-5536. Email is preferred, sent return receipt requested. The full report can be accessed here. Speaking time will be allocated based on the number of individuals who wish to offer comments.
