Free Language Assistance

If you do not speak English well and need help applying for or understanding the Emergency Assistance program, EOHLC will provide free translation services either at one of the field offices or over the remote access line.

Applying

In person:  When you arrive at one of the 10 field offices, there will be posters on the wall printed in 34 languages with information about getting an interpreter.  You can point to the language you speak and an over-the-phone interpreter will be provided to you free of charge.

By phone:  If you apply over the phone, tell the person who answers what language you speak and an over-the-phone interpreter will be provided to you free of charge.

Program participant

If you have already been determined eligible and placed in a shelter, and you need an interpreter to help you understand a document you received or something else about the program, tell your shelter provider that you speak a language other than English, and an over-the-phone interpreter will be provided to you free of charge.
