RMV FINDS NEW HOME IN REVERE

October 1, 2008

State and city leaders of Revere join Reg Kaprielian in announcing the RMV's new home in Revere(Revere, MA) - Registrar Rachel Kaprielian welcomed Revere city leaders and the state legislative delegation to the new home of the RMV which is currently being retrofitted into a state-of-the-art branch at Mahoney’s Circle in the new Channel Mall.

The Revere office, which will replace the Melrose branch, is expected to open in January 2009. It will feature ample parking and handicap access as well as dual work-stations which help customer service representatives work more efficiently.

Digimarc's Bob Eckel and Reg. Rachel Kaprielian sign a new contract to manufacture licenses in MA(Boston, MA) - Registrar Rachel Kaprielian announced today that the RMV has awarded Digimarc's ID Systems Business, now a part of the Secure Credentialing Division of L-1 Identity Solutions, located in Burlington, a six year contract to enhance the security of the state's driver's license which the company will begin manufacturing in the Commonwealth for the first time.

RMV Takes the Guess Work Out of OnLine Licensing

(Boston, MA) - Registrar Rachel Kaprielian today announced that the RMV has added a new customer convenience that's expected to make it easier for more Massachusetts drivers to go online at www.Mass.Gov/RMV instead of in line at branches. The RMV will determine if motorists can renew their license through internet services or whether they must come visit a branch to update their picture. The determination will be included in license renewal applications that are mailed to drivers 45 days before their license expires.

Massachusetts Vehicle Check: Cleaner Air & Safer RoadsMassachusetts will introduce its "next generation" vehicle emissions testing and safety inspection program on Wednesday, October 1, but officials from the Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) and Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) said today that except for a new name, Massachusetts Vehicle Check, most motorists shouldn't notice much of a difference.

  • There are currently 22,353 hybrid vehicles, 711 electric vehicles and 94 smart cars registered in Massachusetts.
  • Seven of the 11 vehicles in the RMV's fleet are hybrids or run on alternative fuel (compressed natural gas.)

RMV Launches New Customer Conveniences With First Real-Time Web Services

(Boston, MA)- Registrar Anne L. Collins today announced that three new services have been added to the RMV website which allows customers to do more business online instead of in line. For the first time, customers can utilize the internet to look-up their registrations, vehicle titles and driver education certificates. The new real-time services are expected to shorten lines at all RMV branches, reduce calls to the telephone service center and improve efficiencies throughout the agency.

(Boston, MA)- Transportation Secretary Bernard Cohen today released new data which shows the death toll for teen drivers dropped by a third in the year since the Registry of Motor Vehicles implemented the new junior operator law. Violations for risk-taking behavior such as speeding and drag racing are also down. Secretary Cohen and Registrar Anne L. Collins credit the major changes in the law-zero tolerance penalties, mandatory driver training for parents and more hours behind the wheel for getting junior operators to drive safer.

The legislative delegation helps Dep Reg Keyes re-open Roslindale(Roslindale, MA)- The Registry of Motor Vehicles welcomed state legislators, Boston city councilors, community leaders - and customers - to the official reopening of the Roslindale RMV Branch, located in the Roslindale Community Center. The building was closed for 18 months as part of a city-sponsored renovation project.
