In 2006, after a community assessment found childhood obesity was a key concern among residents, Revere CARES created the Food & Fitness initiative, bringing together a collaboration of community residents and organizations committed to preventing childhood obesity and hunger. To meet these goals, the initiative works to increase access to healthy foods and increase opportunities to be physically active. All of these combined efforts make up Revere on the Move, a Mass in Motion community health program committed to improving public spaces and the continued expansion of farmers’ markets. So far, 4 local parks have been improved for recreation; access to farmer's markets has expanded with the acceptance of SNAP benefits, and new and improved walking paths have connected neighborhoods.
