KML/KMZ Files
KML files (KMZ is the compressed form) are used by a variety of open-source GIS and mapping applications, such as Google Earth and the NASA World Wind viewer. Users must have such an application installed on their computer to use these files.
Activity and Use Limitations ("AULs") Sites in MA
This map provides approximate location information of oil and hazardous waste disposal sites closed with AULs in Massachusetts and only includes those sites for which MassDEP has sufficient location information to map, as of the date specified. The file does not include those sites without sufficient location data or those sites added to the database after the date specified. (The searchable sites database includes these sites and is updated weekly.) An overview of the datalayer, including data limitations, is available from MassGIS.

Brownfield Success Stories
This map provides approximate locations for featured sites that have been successfully redevloped through the MassDEP Brownfields Program. Each location includes a brief synopsis of the cleanup/development and many have links to video clips describing the site's redevelopment.

Coastal Wetlands Resources Maps
These maps are provided as an aid to conservation commissions, building inspectors, and others in implementing revisions to the Massachusetts Basic Building Code 780 CMR 120.G, Appendix G, effective January 1, 2008. These maps identify the approximate location of coastal wetlands resources for coastal communities with properties that must meet Building Code requirements for construction in a flood hazard zone, high hazard zone, or coastal dune. Please note that the delineation of coastal wetland resource areas is still determined by the issuing authority (conservation commission or MassDEP) pursuant to 310 CMR 10.00, the Wetlands Protection Act regulations.

This map provides approximate location infomation of the 35 National Priorities List ("NPL") sites in Massachusetts. MassDEP works closely with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Superfund Program to assess and remediate NPL (or "Superfund") sites. RCRA Corrective Action Sites
In proposed regulations available for public comment through March 23, 2007, MassDEP seeks corrective action authority for twenty-seven (27) known Massachusetts facilities subject to RCRA Corrective Action under 40 CFR 264.101. In Massachusetts the RCRA universe consists of fourteen (14) active hazardous waste Treatment and Storage Facilities (TSFs) and thirteen (13) inactive Storage/Land Disposal Facilities (LDFs) that received Interim Status in 1980, but ceased hazardous waste operations before being issued a final license.
This map identifies the facilities and approximate loactions of the 27 locations subject to the proposed rules.
